Maths is fun!
Investigating the impact of 'asteroids' and the different craters they make
Creating our own sprites and backgrounds, using algorithms and debugging programs
Inspire Day - the children designed and launched their own rockets. They loved working alongside their grown up!
Space Dome Experience - This visit really supplemented the children's understanding of their space topic, as well as being great fun!
Gymnastics Competition -Six children represented the school brilliantly performing a group routine and individual bench skills. They scored the highest mark in the group test.
World Book Day - We dressed up as our favourite book characters and took part in book related activities in each class.
Class Trip to the Dinosaur Park. We had great fun coming face to face with life sized dinosaurs, having raptor races and playing on all the exciting play equipment.
Making Volacnoes - We made our own paper mache volcanoes, painted them and used a chemical reaction to make them 'erupt'!
Fossil hunting! We found out how tricky it was to be a paleontologist by trying to remove fossils (choc chips) from a rock (cookie) without damaging it.
Maths Measuring. We used scales to accuratley weigh different amounts of rice in grams. We then bagged, labelled and ordered them.
Making Fossils. As part of our work on instructions, measure and dinosaurs we followed instructions to weigh and mix our own fossil 'dough'. We moulded them and used objects to make an imprint. Then we had to leave them to set hard.
No Pens Day! We had to learn without pens! First we found ways to show data we had collected, then we had to measure the actual size of dinosaurs and make their outlines with rope. We couldn't believe the size of the pterosaur! Later we read and ordered the Easter story.
Cards for our Mums
Resilience Day - A range of activities to encourage perseverence and resilience incluidng a 1 mile run.
Aboriginal Art. As part of our topic work on Autralia we investigated the different designs and meanings of Aboriginal symbols and paintings. We created examples of rock art cave paintings and Aboriginal dot paintings. We also decorated our own boomerangs and didgeridoos with dots patterns and Aboriginal symbols.
