News from Kettlefields Primary School

Term has got off to a busy start with staff and pupils returning to school enthusiastic and refreshed after the summer break. Our youngest pupils are settling in very well and we also welcome new families in other year groups. We know you will all really enjoy being part of Kettlefields.

We were delighted to be asked to be part of a special service at Stetchworth Church to welcome the new Priest in Charge, Rev Nikki Mann. We also look forward to getting to know Nikki as she leads our forthcoming Harvest Service at school and our choir are busy practising some songs for the Stetchworth Church Garden Party on Sunday 24th September.

Our Sports Leaders proudly helped to celebrate the Tour of Britain Cycle Race in Newmarket by handing over a wonderful flag that pupils had made for the South African team. The atmosphere was wonderful and we even made it onto the front page of the local newspaper!

Alicia Gadsby, our Maths Lead Teacher, is currently visiting schools in Shanghai as part of an exchange programme involving teachers from all over the UK. We were very excited to be chosen to participate in this project and will be welcoming the teachers from Shanghai back to Newmarket in January 2018. This is a wonderful opportunity for our school both culturally and academically.

Parents, please remind your pupils to keep up with their Doodlemaths at home as often as possible. It is really helping their confidence in maths lessons at school. Reading daily for ten minutes with your children is also so important, even when your children are older. Do spend some time asking them questions about what they have read to reinforce their understanding of the text. Thank you.

We currently have vacancies on our school governing body, so if you are interested in this role or know someone else who may be, please do get in touch to discuss the role further. Governors have an important role to play in supporting and challenging the headteacher and monitoring teaching and learning, resources, premises and the school budget.

We are always pleased to show off the great things we do at Kettlefields so if you have a child of primary school age or pre-school age, visits to the school are very welcome. Please contact the school office on (01638) 508360 or email us on Do also take a look at our website by following this link

We also have a Twitter feed for Kettlefields School. This is a great way for us to share and celebrate the great things that we do. Please take a look, like our posts, send us a tweet and follow us.

Thank you for your continued support.
