Class Teacher: Mrs. Gadsby and Mrs Arbon (Monday pm and Tuesday)

Teaching Assistants: Mrs. Wiseman

This year our work is going to be based around some fun and exciting topics.....

Autumn 1: My World
Autumn 2: Can we fix it?
Spring 1: To infinity and beyond (Space)
Spring 2: The lost world (Dinosaurs)
Summer 1: Down under (Australia)
Summer 2: Into the woods (Magical worlds)

This half term our topic is...

My World

Through cross curricular and inquiry based approaches to our learning,
we will be finding out about the children's families and those of others around the world and different cultures and religions. We will also be learning about the physical features of the world including continents, countries, rivers and oceans.

What and where are the seven wonders of the ancient world?

How many continents and oceans are there?

How many capital cities can you name?

Do you know any famous landmarks and where they are?

Can you say 'Hello' or 'Goodbye' in another language?

Each half term we produce a Curriculum Map that details what the children will learn.
The Curriculum Maps are designed to give as much information as possible

about what the children will be learning at school each half

term so that they can be supported at home.

Children will receive a home learning map for the half term, they will be encouraged to choose one activity each week to present in class on a Wednesday. Year 1 children will also receive a phonics sheet each week relating to the spelling pattern of the week. Year 2 children will receive a word list at the start of each half term to practice the words they are learning in school.
