Physical Education

Physical Education

The physical wellbeing of our children is as important as their mental development. Our children are encouraged to participate in all types of physical activities and a range of games. Children participate in two hours of PE a week at Kettlefields following the Get Set 4 Education’s Get Set 4 PE scheme of work.

We are members of the Forest Heath School Sports Partnership based in Newmarket. We aim take part in a variety of competitions such as swimming, cross-country, football, cricket, netball, hockey, basketball, gymnastics and tennis.

We are passionate about physical activity, physical education and sport at Kettlefields and try to incorporate it daily and weekly. Children in year 2 and 5 take part in swimming lessons at Deerfield Farm in a two-week intensive block during the school year. During the spring term, the whole school participates in our ‘Healthy Half-Term’ initiative, aimed at driving health and well-being through sport, physical activity and physical education. This involves the local community and a number of curriculum lessons being based around this initiative.
